Serving Those Who Serve

Healing that Understands You

Every call leaves a mark. Childhood trauma, leaves a mark.

Behind the calm, the steady hands, and the badge is a body that remembers every sound, every image, every moment. Over time, those experiences accumulate. Even when the mind tries to move on, the body keeps the score—holding tension in your muscles, weight in your chest, illness, disease, or unease that never seems to lift.

That’s not weakness.
That’s physiology.

Your body and brain have been in survival mode, doing their best to protect you. But the same mechanisms that kept you sharp on the job can, over time, turn into exhaustion, anxiety, depression, or emotional distance from the people you love, emotional distance from yourself.

Even protectors need restoration.

What is Trauma?

"Trauma is not what happens to you, but what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you." ~Gabor Maté. Doctor Maté defines trauma as a deep disconnection from oneself, often stemming from overwhelming experiences, especially in childhood, leading to ingrained survival patterns that manifest as illness, addiction, and emotional distress, emphasizing that healing involves reconnecting with our authentic selves.

  • Internal Experience:

Trauma isn't just an event; it's the body's and mind's enduring response to it, a wound that changes us internally.

  • Disconnection:

The essence of trauma is losing connection with your true self, becoming disconnected from your feelings and needs because it was too painful to be present with them.

  • Childhood Roots:

Early childhood experiences, particularly a lack of reliable emotional connection, set the template for how we relate to ourselves and the world, shaping our traumatic responses.

  • Survival Strategies:

What we perceive as personality traits or addictions are often adopted strategies to cope with past pain, not our authentic selves.

  • Healing as Reconnection:

Healing involves recognizing these patterns, understanding their origins, and learning to reconnect with our authentic selves and emotions, moving from past wounds to present awareness.

Ketamine: A Novel Path to Healing

At gentle, carefully guided doses, ketamine can help quiet your brain’s habitual stress responses, creating a sense of calm where there may have once been constant tension. In this softened state, you may notice a bit more space—less caught in cycles of overthinking, ruminating or self-criticism, and more able to observe your thoughts without feeling overwhelmed by them.

If you’ve been carrying a deeper sense of unease, feeling stuck, disconnected, or searching for meaning, this experience can offer a different perspective. Rather than making difficult thoughts or emotions disappear, ketamine often helps you relate to them in a new way. Many people find this shift brings a sense of clarity, self-compassion, and a renewed connection to themselves.

A Program Just for You

At Vie Santé, we have deep compassion for the unique challenges faced by first responders and healthcare workers. Our team is led by a trauma/critical-care nurse practitioner from a family of firefighters and healthcare professionals, and is made up of trauma-informed clinicians who truly understand your world: the silence, the dark humor. You don’t need to explain.

We are here by choice, not recruitment, because we believe in this work. Each of us is engaged in our own healing and committed to meeting you where you are.

Our approach integrates Western clinical care with indigenous knowledge systems, grounded in family, community, compassion, trust, accountability, humility, and reciprocity.

Traditional frameworks often focus on diagnosis; we focus on the person and the pain beneath it. Psychedelic work, supported by skilled clinicians and community, helps access and move through that pain.

We see you not as a label, but as a whole person, part of a larger community. What affects one affects all. Here, you are met without judgment. Here, you are family.

With a trauma-informed, inner-directed approach, we believe the capacity to heal already exists within you. Our role is to provide a safe, supportive space where that healing can unfold.
